The Bagsmart space saver toiletry bag review
I love puzzles and, for me, packing is just like a three-dimensional, practical puzzle. Over the years, I’ve become such a strategic packer (shoutout to the KonMari folding technique!) that I can always find a way to stuff in absolutely everything on my packing list. The one area that stumped me, however, was my toiletries. With products of all shapes and sizes — spray bottles, round jars, squeeze tubes, makeup palettes and more — that can’t bend or fold like clothes, it was even more of a Tetris-like game to ensure my whole beauty routine made it into my suitcase. And as a beauty editor, you can bet that I’m not leaving one step of my skin care routine behind.
Thankfully, I discovered this toiletry bag from Bagsmart earlier this year. It’s perfect for maximalist packers like me (can it be called over-packing if everything fits?), especially for longer trips.
This spacious toiletry bag is great for longer trips where you'll want to bring your full-size products. With secure pockets and straps in each compartment, plus a handy hanging hook to save counter space, you'll be able to fit your complete beauty routine in the water-resistant toiletry organizer.
From makeup pouches to clear toiletry cases, I’ve tried a range of organizers but consistently struggled with fitting all of my beauty products. And while travel-sized toiletry bottles can help, they can be a major compromise for longer trips and don’t always suit the products I want to bring along. That’s why I’m so impressed with the Bagsmart toiletry organizer. The bag, which I ordered in the medium size, fits my robust skin care and makeup routine, plus some hair accessories too.
The first time I used the bag was for a three-week trip to Cambodia and Vietnam, so I packed in all of my daily skin care necessities, plus my sweat-proof makeup favorites. I didn’t count how many products I brought then, but for this story (and another three-week trip I’m departing for this week) I laid out all of the products and tallied up 37.
The taller bottles and tubes slid into the straps that line the main compartment of the bag, which left enough space for jarred products to go into the middle along with my hairbrush and a claw clip. All of my skin care fit in this way (and on my previous trip, some travel-sized shampoo and conditioner too) leaving the outer two compartments for makeup. On the left side, there are additional straps within the pocket that are great for securing makeup brushes, along with a smaller palette or two. On the right, the pocket is lined with clear PVC, so I used it for foundation, lip gloss and other potentially leaky makeup. I even had some extra room in the two mesh pockets that are on the flap of the bag, so I added in some miscellaneous things like exfoliating wipes, hair clips and my night guard and toothpaste.
Besides being able to pack in an ample amount, the feature I love most about this bag is that all of the products can sit upright, which means they are easier to see and access. Unlike other bags where I’d have to lay bottles down horizontally, stack them on top of each other and inevitably unpack them once at my destination, I can keep my routine in the Bagsmart organizer the whole time. This keeps clutter contained and makes packing up a breeze.
The hook at the top of the flap also helps keep countertops clear, since you can hang the toiletry bag on a towel rack or the back of a door. It’s been sturdy enough to handle my load of products, which I admit is an impressive 4.6 pounds (we’ve already established I’m not a light packer).
At a third of the cost of toiletry bags from travel brands like Calpak, Away and Beis, this Bagsmart option not only offers more tailored compartments but more room overall. I love that it can store my complete beauty routine in all of its full-size glory. The elastic straps to secure products in each of the compartments are a plus, as is the upright design. Even when laying the organizer down in my suitcase, I’m confident that my products won’t shift around or spill.
And by the way, although the toiletry bag looks and feels quite large (it measures about 11.5 inches by 9.25 inches) it takes a little less than half the space of the upper compartment of my Away carry-on, leaving plenty of room for other belongings.
Sure, this won’t be my weekend trip toiletry bag, but it’s perfect for longer trips or anyone who wants to keep their full-size products on hand.
